My husband Vinnie, works full time in IT and neither of us really knew where to start with our raised walled 700 square metre piece of land on the edge of the Rimutaka Forest Park in Wainuiomata, New Zealand. It was a struggle to even mow the lawns which led to feelings of frustration with the overgrown landscape.
My grandparents and parents on the other hand were committed gardeners and farmers and gradually as I started to lay out our garden around our urban home, childhood memories started to surface and gradually over the last 2 years our small section of land has begun to be transformed into an edible and floral landscape.
Little did I know that as the spaces transformed, my plan would still work giving me a schedule for maintenance. Instead of starting and not finishing areas in the garden - I work one section at a time until completion.
